3 Simple Activities to Beat the Quarantine Blues this Winter

Updated: Dec 5, 2020

With the winter months ahead of us and a fresh blanket of snow on the ground, there couldn’t be a better time to start brainstorming ways to keep ourselves occupied during this holiday season. Especially given that we have no choice but to stay inside this year, it may be helpful to get creative when thinking of things to do.

Here are some ideas to try when you find yourself getting bored during these frosty months:

1. Try a new baking recipe!

There’s something special about wintertime desserts, and having to stay indoors is the perfect excuse to find a new favorite.

2. Create and send mini care packages to your loved ones

For safety reasons, we may not be able to physically gather with all of the people we care about this year. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t show them how much they mean to us. Put together a collection of items you think they would like– you could even share some of your newfound favorite baked goods. Include personalized handwritten notes, and you’re all set to send them out! It’s a simple way to stay busy while staying connected.

3. Wax and relax

We are dental students, after all. One of the best decisions I made before heading home for the holidays was bringing my waxing supplies with me. Not only does it give me a unique way to unwind when I need to, it helps to stay in touch with the one passion we all have in common– teeth. No matter where you may be during this season, refreshing your mind with dental anatomy is an easy option to beat any boredom!

Whether you try a brand new recipe or turn to the familiarity of waxing up some teeth, I hope you’re able to make the best of this winter!
